You can't buy this quirky, historic Craftsman-style Mount Dora home, but you can still look inside

You can no longer own a piece of Mount Dora history, but you can still take a look inside  this charming four-bedroom Craftsman-style home, built just 25 years after the city was founded. It comes complete with views of Lake Dora from a huge, covered wraparound porch, with an office and art studio inside. Located near the city's center on its own half-acre of land, the home has a shaded backyard, fenced in to create a private retreat. The only thing modern are the usable amenities, such as the gas stove and granite countertops in the kitchen.

A Dutch front door opens into dining and living areas with high vaulted ceilings and large beams. There are two fireplaces and the flooring is all Dade County pine. Listed by Nova Fuller of Dave Lowe Realty, this is a dream house for any Florida lover of vintage homes. The price is a hefty, but the whole is even more valuable than its parts.

"You won’t find any drywall or modern changes like that," she told Realtor.com, as the owners have carefully maintained the home using original materials. Like this rare historic home itself, Fuller adds, "you can’t buy Dade County pine anymore."

All the same, after initially listing the house for $664,900 in December 2019, the house remained on the market a few months before it was reduced down to $599,900, in May 2020. That's when someone snapped up this historic deal.
