These images were taken one year after the worst mass shooting in modern U.S. history happened in Orlando, when a gunman attacked the gay nightclub Pulse on "Latin Night," leaving 49 people dead and countless injured. In the days after June 12, 2016, Orlando responded in kind, loving ways – lining up at blood bank centers, donating pizzas and supporting victims' families and survivors. A year after the tragedy, the City Beautiful remembered the 49 victims of the massacre with vigils, songs, artwork, remembrance ceremonies and a continuing commitment to never let anything like this happen again.
