The Corkcicle seems like kind of a gag gift that you might get for someone who's known to hit the wine a little frequently: a metal "icicle" that you freeze and then plunge down the neck of a bottle of wine to keep it cool. But hey, rosé doesn't taste good warm, and they work. Corkcicle now makes a beer bottle-sized version called the Chillsner. They come in a pack of two, and if you drink as fast as we do, that should be enough to get you through a whole room-temp sixer without having to resort to the wet paper towel trick.

OK, OK, hear me out. I know: Chrissy Teigen, of Sports Illustrated and Twitter fame? But this is truly the perfect book to turn to for potlucks, family gatherings and office parties. Is it basic? Totally. Is it incredibly useful? Absolutely. Are there some tasty bites to be had? You better believe it.

David Bowie Play Book, by Matteo Guarnaccia and Giulia Pivetta (ACC Editions, 96 pages, $29.95)

The old truism that "the clothes make the man," was never more true than in the case of Bowie. More than a mere slave to fashion, though, he created whole personas and lyrical universes out of what he wore. This quirky, oversize tome one-ups "adult coloring books" to present "adult paper-doll books," wherein you may dress your own Bowies as you please from a dazzling area of actual stagewear.

It's hard to pick just one from Orlando-based Secret Society's fantastic selection of lapel pins, but the solid rose gold of the finely crafted Florida badge is an especially nice touch.

Washi tape is a decorative Japanese paper tape that can make a boring piece of stationery a little more beautiful. Popularized by DIY crafts, washi tape can be found in your local Michaels or Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft stores, but this particular floral version from Washi Station is truly ethereal.

Knife set by Michel Bras/Kai (Williams-Sonoma, $2,155-$3,080)

The set of knives developed by legendary French chef Michel Bras and Japanese blade forger Kai aren't just well-made utilitarian cutters – they're works of art. Since acquiring a 3-inch sheep's-foot paring knife and a 6-inch santoku knife last year, I've covetously eyed the other titanium-coated, matte-finished and pakkawood-handled blades in the set.

The Love and Lemons Cookbook: An Apple-to-Zucchini Celebration of Impromptu Cooking, by Jeanine Donofrio (Avery, 320 pages)

Another cookbook based on a beloved blog, Love and Lemons is just behind Everything I Want to Eat in this year's horse race for most anticipated cookbook. (In fact, it's the book more people have asked me about this season than any other.) And, fortunately, it lives up to the hype, offering a tart and sunny repository of vegetable cookery in a well-designed volume.

Listening to these albums, you hear the DNA for so much minimal synth and dance music too.
