Here's what $1000 in rent gets you in Orlando, right now

The rental market in Orlando is tough right now. According to a study from February of this year by the Harvard Joint Center for Housing, Orlando ranked second in the country for increase in rent prices for one-bedroom apartments. The same study claimed that the median income for renters in metro Orlando is $35,000 and the midpoint rent price is $1,000, which means that most Orlando residents are what's called "rent burdened."

In some cases, it's actually cheaper to be a home owner than to rent in Orlando, but that's always easier said than done. Since the market is constantly changing, here's what $1,000 per month can get you in the Orlando area, right now.

If you want to live downtown and not spend an arm and a leg, right now City View might be one of your best options. Just remember that parking will be your nemesis, especially when friends come to visit. Also, this side of downtown can be a little sketch.

City View has a pretty nice layout for their 1 bedrooms. It's sort of lame that there's carpet, but then again you'll be happy your neighbors upstairs have carpet when they're hoofing around at 7 a.m.

The biggest bummer with this place is that air conditioner, which looks like it's seen better days. Second floor apartments can get pretty hot in the summer, especially without central air.
