The childhood home of Oingo Boingo member and composer Richard Gibbs is now for sale in Daytona Beach. The former keyboardist for the New Wave legends was well away from this mid-century home just steps from the ocean by the time he composed the music for Battlestar Galactica and early seasons of The Simpsons, but attaching his name is no reach.
The renovation of the circa-1952 bungalow was carried out Gibbs himself, who made sure to maintain many of the home's original touches. Located at 1616 Grandview Ave. North, the home is a blend of modern appliances and throwback fixtures. The black-and-white tiles and chrome-covered lighting in the kitchen recall a mid-century diner, and the angles of the house's exterior scream Space Age. It sits on a large lot that's close enough to the ocean to hear the waves from the screened-in back porch. The three-bedroom, one-bathroom house is a svelte 1,158 square feet. Gibbs is asking $299,900 for the home.
The listing agent is Ryan Adams of Adams, Cameron & Co. Realtors.
