A completely remodeled Cottagecore Victorian is now for sale in Winter Park
At some point in the last several decades, the fundamental bargain of wage labor began to come apart. As more and more of the proceeds of work went to the folks at the top, people who work for a living began to lose their grip on the decent life that was once afforded them in exchange for 40 hours of it a week.
As young people (and young Americans in particular) came to realize this, a romanticized ideal of the self-sufficient household began to flourish on all corners of the internet. Cutesy floral patterns, dainty architectural flourishes and gardens around homes with good bones became a meme. This movement, such as it was , earned the name "cottagecore." Now, a perfect ideal of the aesthetic is for sale in Winter Park, though at a price point no working person can afford.
The Victorian home at 138 Detmar Drive is a throwback on the outside, but all modern within. First built in 1880, it's been through two major renovations in the last two decades. Fittingly, the Winter Park estate comes with its own cottage. The main house is a 3 beds, 4.5 baths. The separate cottage is 2 beds, 1 bath. The home boasts original floors inside and meticulously landscaped grounds outside. The home is going for $2.25 million.
