Last Friday's Culture Pop art party at the Maitland Art Center was a magical evening of art under the stars, with the opening of a major exhibition by Clyde Butcher, pop-up installations scattered around the grounds, readings by the Maitland Poets & Artists, short films screened by the Enzian and a performance by the Pauses. The evening was the kickoff for their monthlong Art31 event, offering art performances, exhibits and workshops every day in March. This year's theme: sanctuary.
